Hey! I went BLIND last night!

It absolutely sucked.

Especially given that my mom went blind for absolutely NO reason at the age of like, 8... she's in medical books and stuff cause she's one of two people it happened to...

Anyrate, so I'm sitting there, eating dinner with Alan & JD, and I get a bright spot, like i'd been looking at a light too long. It was like, pinhole sized, so I figured I musta just seen a lightbulb or something...

But then the dot became like a diagonally curved line of moving rainbow, totally interfering with my vision, making me dizzy, stuff like that... so I went to my room, took out my contacts and put on my glasses...

Which is when I noticed that out of my left eye, I couldn't see the end of my glass frame. I had NO peripheral vision out of my left eye. I started to like, really panic... I tried calling my mother, no answer at the house or her cell phone... I sat on the couch, next to JD, and he was on my left and I couldn't see him at all, and it was beginning to schitz me... he was waving his hand and stuff, and I couldn't see it unless I looked directly at it...

All the sudden I got REALLY dizzy and BLAM! It was back, suddenly I could see everything again. I started to cry. I didn't realize how scared I was.

The whole fucking thing lasted, start to finish, about 25 minutes.

NOT fucking cool.

Anyrate, on to more entertaining topics, I don't think I'm going to Q's on Saturday anymore. Think I'm going to be heading over to mah man eviljiggy's. Woo Ha.

I agree with lalalenore, you need to have a doctor check you out. And tell the doctor about your mom's history. Sounds spooky, I hope you figure out what happened!

I've lost my sight quite a few times during migraines. One time it was for about five hours. Another time it started happening when I was driving! I made it into the driveway just as I opened the door to puke and everything went black. I made it to our front door and pounded loud enough to wake David up to let me in. I was terrified. And yet another time, I was also here alone with my children and thank god my oldest daughter Raven was able to help with the little ones.

Please see a doctor, honey.

see, even when i've gotten migraines, i saw "stars" and lights and stuff, but i never had this happen...

coupled with the fact that i didn't even have a headache, well, that makes it all the more freakish...

i have to figure out what my insurance covers and stuff...

Sounds like a severe ocular migrane. It starts off just like you described, but as far as losing sight, I don't know.

Seriously, you should get that checked out. You can't be doing stuff and then just go completely BLIND, you know? It's inconvenient.

I've gone "blind" a few times, but I think it may have been due to migraines or something. I had black spots in front of my eyes accompanied by dizziness, and if I remember correctly, it even affected my hearing. I finally got my sight back after going to lie down for a little while. It's happened to me a few times, but I've noticed it's only when there's an extreme temperature change, like getting in or out of the shower.

Like I said, inconvenient.

nah, i kept walking around in circles, closing my eyes one at a time (you know, camera 1, camera 2) and trying to isolate exactly where the problem was... then i just sat on a couch and got ready to freak...

then it stopped. then i cried. relief does weird things to you.

my mom regained her eyesight just as mysteriously as it went... she has scar tissue on her retina though, so she's partially blind in her left eye...

and i used to live on carrots when i was younger... didn't help my eyes from going any worse... or scary thought, maybe it did... eep!

You should have gone immediately to the ER. That could be an early warning sign of retinal detachment, especially with the "bright spot" symptoms also. Retinal detachment is IRREVERSABLE, unless treated quickly. I am not being a worry wort here, but that is very serious, and with your family history nothing ot fool around with.

I agree about getting checked for retinal detachment. My nan has macrodegenerative blindness.. from the retinal detachment.. bad things dude, and I dont want anything happening to my favourite jersey sloot.. *mwash*
