Real post.
Uhm.
I'm okay. Sorta. I have my moments. Today was one of the hardest funerals I've been to.
My boss, who has been to at least a thousand (not even close to exagerating) said this was the MOST emotional funeral he's ever been too.
I was doing okay. Until I opened my eyes.
My aunt really undid me with her speech.
And seeing my cousins sob, sucked. Empathy, you are a bitch.
Trisha lost it sobbing. So, I in turn, nearly lost my shit. I just held her and rocked her. Prolly her husband's job, but oh well. He got her after me. Then Squish got me.
It sucked.
FUCKING SUCKED.
I buried one of the most important men in my world today. It sucked.
I lost it when the played Taps too. And when they folded the flag over his coffin.
Thanks be to Lex, who showed up and carried tissues for us all. (yes, I stole a box of tissues from the funeral home. We went through half of them.)
Cliff is so excellent at his job. After Trish'd calmed down some, he told us the worst experience he had with a funeral. Said the back ho had gone a bit to close to the bar and he FELL INTO THE GRAVE.
He said he stood up (he's a tall boy) and was eye level with the grass and said it gave him a bit of perspective. Heh.
So yeah. That was that.
Repast was awesome. As weird as it is to say that. We sat at the kid's table *grins* We had some additions from the normal set of grandkids, and a loss (Trish & Brian sat with Aunt Kathie with the baby), but we had some awwwwwwwwesome stories flying around.
It was really good to bond with my cousins. I do love them so :) Oh the reminiscing. The grandpa stories. The grandma stories. The condo stories. *sigh* Good times. :)
Then Salvatore, Jim & I went to see Sweeney Todd. I don't get the fuss. I didn't think it was that great. Actually, none of us did. It wasn't bad, but I really don't think I'd sit through it again.
I'm a freak. Touch me.
We went to the Border's over there, since they're closing down that part of the mall. I got hardcover Dark Tower 6 & 7, a cheat sheet bridal book, and the Nirvana: Unedited Unplugged for $31. WOOO!
I've wanted the unedited version since it first aired on MTV over a decade ago. I'm so pleased I have it. Oh, Kurt. Why oh why. Such a fucking waste.
O, Discordia!
