Today.

Wait, I should back up.

Last night, I decided that since Squish was coming over, I should like, HIDE his gifts that are strewn about the living room.

So I decided the hall closet. Cause, sure, why not.

I open the closet and was like, attacked.

I needed my backpack anyway since I'm staying at Kim's after I see the Crimson Pirates.

So I empty my backpack (which was in the closet) and put the stuff in a NEW bag and go to put it in my closet.

I realize, "Shit. My wrapping paper is in there somewhere. Jared has thrown a ton of shit in there. I wonder if it's intact."

See, Jared, when he "cleans" throws things on top of things in the closet.

So, long story short (too late), I end up having him take out the air conditioners out of the closet, reorganizing it, find my wrapping paper (which was mostly okay) and restack everything in there.

Then I Wii'd to relax.

Went to bed at like, 1am? Something like that.

Now.

After that, I'm *assuming* my alarm went off.

And I'm *assuming* that I turned it off in my sleep.

I was tired.

So.

I woke up to JARED going "Nikki, you okay? Everyone's looking for you!"

And I see my clock.

11:30

AHHAHAHAAH!!

I'm supposed to BE HERE at 8:30.

But, granted they only noticed I wasn't here at 10:30, so hey, screw them ;)

Turns out, Heidi called his old club, Parsippany, then they gave her the Livingston number, she called them, they said that he wasn't working, so they wouldn't GIVE her the phone number, but they'd call him for her. So, finally Jared responded, called Heidi, gave her Janete's phone number.

Cause Heidi thought Janete might know the phone number for the people who bought my building so they'd ring my bell or something.

They all thought I was dead. I didn't answer my phone, cause it was in the living room, I was in a coma, yo.

So.

I got to work. After an APB to my friends had been put out on me. HAHAHAH....

I got here at 12:15. Score.

Wee!

A truly heart warming story!

Here's a truly heartwarming story about the bond formed between a little girl and some construction workers that makes you believe that wecan make a difference when we give a child the gift of our time...

A young family moved into a house, next door to a vacant lot. One day a construction crew turned up to start building a
house on the empty lot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next-door and spent much of each day observing the workers.

Eventually the construction crew, all of them gems-in-the-rough, more or less adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important.

At the end of the first week they even presented her with a pay envelope containing a couple of dollars.

The little girl took this home to her mother who said all the appropriate words of admiration and suggested that they take the two-dollar "pay" she had received to the bank the next day to start a savings account.

When they got to the bank, the teller was equally impressed and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own paycheck at such a young age.

The little girl proudly replied, "I worked last week with the crew building the house next door to us."

"My goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?"

The little girl replied, "I will if those assholes at Home Depot ever deliver the fucking sheet rock..."
