For those of you not paying attention when my boyfriend & I posted it for several days, today we went to Bodies: The Exhibit today. Along with his adorable sister, sciencenerdFaith, hitchnjWendy, craftyskwrlSteph & bunkertorTim.

Wendy, Archie & I took the PATH to WTC, which is sort of creepie. The PATH line has windows, and you can see the site, it's like a non-guided tour of it. Kind of strange. Although, having seen it right after 9/11, it looks decidedly like a construction site now.

So, we finally find Faith *grins* and we head into the exhibit. Which had lost it's air conditioning. HA. It was 80 degrees today. Suffice it to say, it was way cooler outside than inside. Thank God those bodies are plasticized. Heh.

The exhibit was mad cool. Wasn't allowed to take pix, so there are none to share. *sadness* At the end, you even get to fondle some body parts. A heart, a brain, some muscle, and a tibula.

Afterwards, we were just sitting around inside still, and these two guys came and DEMANDED their money back from the exhibit saying after seeing the babies they were "disgusted" and needed a refund.

I think they were expecting more and pissed it was $20. Heh.

I mean, there were LOTS of disturbing things in there once you wrap your mind around the fact that, YES, it is an actual human they've fileted and disected and opened up, but it was fascinating.

One of the things that saddened me the most was a torso of a pregnant woman. Because that means she and her baby died. Made me think too much. She was about 3 or 4 months pregnant.

There were no "healthy" babies. Just two with birth defects. One with a severe case of spina bifida and one set of conjoined twins (connected at the chest cavity).

I don't know. It made me want to go back to the Mütter Museum in Philly.

Anyrate, afterwards we went to the South Street Seaport and had lunch. Steph & Tim then took their leave of us, and we watched the guy below. I'd seen him on Letterman or Leno stuffing himself in a box a while back which was funnie cause I'd seen him the day earlier in Washington Square Park doing acrobatics with Calypso Tumblers

Ooooh, fairyruneBubbles, we found a store for you. There are pix below ;)

Pix below and whatnot. VERY image heavy. Tumbler, fire juggler, graves, WTC & stuff. )

So, that was our day in NYC. I had a great time, my feet are killing me, and I am SO happy it was so gorgeous out today. :D
