You know I that thought that as well because well...who does that? And the getting undressed under the blanket thing because who does THAT?
But then I thought about it from a psychological perspective and realized that what all his actions have in common is a kind of martyrdom. After the rage subsides and he begins to think, even if irrationally, his only thought seems to be how to make his mother pay. He screams about hating his life, he tries to hurt himself by throwing himself face first to the bed and floor, tries to violate himself with the remote, and beats himself with a shoe. All very comical until you stop to to think about what all these actions have in common. They are all meant to inflict pain. It saddens me to think that he knows that impaling himself with the remote will inflict pain. He must have been abused at some point.
I think it is in fact an honest expression. I hope the family finds him some help.
